Ken-Caryl Ranch History
In 1859, Major Robert Boyles Bradford purchased the stone cabin and surrounding acreage.  He built a road into the mountains in 1860 that was operational until 1867.  The road was called the "Terrible Bradford Road” and ran from Denver to Tarryall, Oro City, Fairplay, Breckenridge and followed the old Ute Trail.  Pictured above is the road today.

Aquatics:

Welcome to the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District aquatics facilities.  The District will offer a full slate of aquatic programs to keep the family cool, safe and calm all summer.  The programs will include adult swim, open swim, lap swim, a competitive youth swim team and a complete lesson program.  Please contact the Recreation Center closest to your home if you have questions.

The Ken-Caryl Ranch aquatic staff are among the most qualified lifeguards in the Denver area and are here for your safety.  Please help them have a safe summer by carefully reading the following information.  If you have any questions about the pool regulations, pool hours, or swim lesson program, please ask one of our staff members or the pool manager and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Aquatics programs and facilities are designed and operated for the maximum safety and enjoyment of Ranch residents.  There are high quality learn-to-swim programs and supervised open swimming in safe and clean pools for residents and pass holders. The aquatics program gives assistance to the Ken-Caryl Ranch Swim Team.

The District provides approximately 12 weeks of swimming programs for Ranch Residents.  Lessons include eight weeks of instructional programs for an estimated 1,100 children.
