Ken-Caryl Ranch History

In 1895, James Adams Perley and his family moved to the Ranch. Two generations of Perley’s raised here were dairy farmers. Oral history taken from Josephine and Charlotte Perley, tell of a hard life growing up. Upon James Adam Perley’s death, the property was sold to John C. Shaffer, newspaper baron.

Board of Directors:
The Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. Board members are elected to four four-year terms by registered voters who reside or own property within the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District. The Board of Directors is elected to establish policies and provide general direction to the staff in the performance of their day-to-day duties managing the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District.
